Winter Cup Final 2024-25
The Final of the Winter Cup this year was played in glorious spring sunshine (on April 3) and the victorious pair were Trevor Woodham & Colin Hood with a sweeping 32-9 win against Martyn Hammond & Martin Wilson.
The Marts played some decent bowls but were thwarted by the consistency of Woody & Hoody and after nine ends at halfway were 5-19 down, having shipped a six and five during that spell. They continued to battle away, including a brilliant four, but Trevor & Colin continued to edge the ends and maintain their advantage to take the honours.
Winter Cup Final 2023-24
The winners of this year's trophy were Howard Brooks & Ian Smith. They won in a well fought final with a victory against Martin Wilson & Alan Dell.
Winter Cup Final 2022-23
Played in warm sunshine on Saturday (April 29) this year's honours went to Alastair Gibson & Gregg Scott who beat Andy Doughton & Dave Laye 24-6.
The scoreline does not do justice to the runners-up who played very well but were thwarted with the consistent accuracy of Alastair & Gregg, who made a major move on the 4th end, taking seven shots.
Andy & Dave kept things close until near the end when another big end sealed the match for Alastair and Gregg.
Winter Cup Final 2021-22
This year’s Wraysbury Village Trust Winter Cup Final had a rather one-sided look about it as
Len Carlton & Trevor Woodham beat Maureen Vizer & Gregg Scott 21-6 after the 18 ends.
Len must have a liking for the winter season as the victory meant he has been on the winning team
three times over the last four runnings.
Winter Cup Final 2019-20
The Final of the Wraysbury Village Trust Winter Cup pairs competition was eventually played on Thursday (Aug 27) after being delayed through the summer due to the pandemic restrictions.
The trophy went to Sarah Jane Cole & Len Carlton who beat Paul Lester & Graham Sinclair 23-13 in a match that could easily have turned either way.
Winter Cup Final 2018-19
After a well contested final Tony Britton & Gregg Scott took a 22-11 victory over Trevor Woodham & Mike McLachlan. After an early lead Tony & Gregg were pulled back but then snatched five shots to move ahead and see out the match.
This win gave Tony his first club trophy.
Winter Cup Final 2017-18
IN a gripping and entertaining 2017-18 Winter Cup Final, it was Anne Harrell & Len Carlton who took the honours, beating Julia Cream & Alan Dell 18-17 after a tense last end shoot-out.
Winter Cup Final 2016-17
An entertaining and thrilling final saw Julia Cream & Andy Doughton triumph in a nail biting last end to overhaul Val Lambert & Gregg Scott 15-14.
Winter Cup Final 2015-16
Doris Thompson & Roger Painter won the 2015-16 Winter Cup Pairs trophy defeating Trevor Dobson & Derek Spence in the Final.
Winter Cup Final 2014-15
IN a really exciting cup final and a proverbial 'game of two halves, Doris Thompson & Derek Spence overhauled Sarah Jane Cole & Gregg Scott 22-16.
Winter Cup 2013-14 (The competition was changed from a league format to a pairs knockout,) Winners: Yvonne Gorrod & Gregg Scott.
