A close and competitive contest
The final of the Village Trust Winter Cup was a very close and competitive contest between the pairs Martin Wilson & Len Carlton and Ian Smith & Dave Bevan.
It was an excellent match of very accurate bowling which, apart from the beginning when Ian & Dave took an early lead, there was never more than one shot in it either way
That w
as until the penultimate 17th end, where both teams came into it level, but it was Ian & Dave who dealt the deadly blow of taking a four shot lead – leaving Martin & Len unable to recover.
Indeed a further two shots saw the Winter Cup go to Ian Smith & Dave Bevan 19-13.
