The Memorial Pairs Trophy was played in very warm conditions and our major
in-house tournament had 11 teams competing, with the victors this year being
Val Lambert & Len Carlton who beat Margaret Perkins & Adam Smith by
7 shots to 1 in the final.
The teams were divided into two mini-leagues and played each other, with the top team in each contesting the final. Val & Len were joint top of their group with Ian & Brenda Smith but won through on better shots score, while Margaret & Adam won all their group games.
The final 
started with Val & Len storming the first end taking a 4-shot lead.
Margaret & Adam tightened things up and were unlucky on the third when Adam took the jack with his final bowl but disappointingly moved it to their opponents.
Margaret & Adam battled on but seemed to tire which wasn’t helped by them having just played a delayed last group match shortly before the final.
Val & Len kept on the pressure and clinched the match to take the trophy.
