This year’s summer season got under way with the annual
Inter Club Day tournament on Sunday (April 13), where members took to the rinks with five teams of four representing various Wraysbury village clubs, played in a round robin format.
It was a competitive event, though with some added fun banter as usual. And it was a weather of two halves – sunny and warm in the morning but cloudy with a shower which forced a short break in the afternoon.
Taking the honours this year were the team representing the Village Club – Fred Parsons, Corinne Smith, Bev Laye and skip Dave Laye. They were undefeated with three wins and a draw and, in a virtual hot shot finish, won their last game by a stunning nine shots.
Bev & Dave seem to like this tournament as they were in the winning team last year.
Runners-up were the Country & Western team of Sue Bennett, Trevor Woodham, Mike McLachlan and Andy Doughton with two wins and a draw.
